Winter Wonderland Wirral is at Birkenhead Park from 10 to 13 December: £7 a person with the booking fee, under-1s free. Opening times, what's in it, travel.

Winter Wonderland Wirral is a new Christmas event in Birkenhead Park from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 December 2026. Tickets are on sale now at £6 a person plus a £1 booking fee, and one ticket covers the whole of the day you book. It is the first year, so there is no previous event to judge it by; everything below comes from the organiser’s ticketing page, read on 7 October.

Everyone pays, adults and children alike; only babies under one go free. The ticket is for a single day, but within that day you can “arrive when you like, stay as long as you like”. Every day is priced the same, so the Saturday and Sunday tickets, with eight and seven hours of opening, go further than the five-hour weekday evenings.

One small mismatch on the booking page: the free carer ticket for Sunday 13 December is labelled 12pm to 9pm, while the event description and the paid Sunday ticket both say the park closes at 7pm. Plan on 7pm.

What’s in it

The organiser says it comes “from the producers of the New Brighton Family Food & Drink Festival”, and lists:

  • an immersive woodland light trail
  • an Alpine Market Village of independent traders
  • a Festive Food Village and bar
  • a main stage with Christmas swing, big bands, choirs, festive pop and family shows
  • a winter fairground
  • a giant snow globe
  • a Santa’s grotto

What the page does not say yet: whether fairground rides and the grotto are included in the £6 or paid for separately, who is on the main stage and when, which traders are coming, and which park entrance is the way in. None of that is published as of 7 October. If you are budgeting for a family, assume rides and food are extra until the organiser says otherwise.

Weather and cancellation

The organiser says the event “will go ahead rain or shine”. If there is a severe “stay at home” weather warning, “the event may be postponed and all tickets will not be refundable”. In other words a postponement moves your date rather than giving you your money back, so buy for the day you are most likely to be free.

Getting there and parking

Birkenhead Park has no public vehicle route through it. The council’s access statement for the park says “vehicle access to the Carriage Drive is currently not permitted”, and the organiser has published no event parking. The practical options, from that same statement:

  • Train: Birkenhead Park station on Merseyrail’s Wirral Line is about 250 metres from the nearest park entrance and 400 metres from the Visitor Centre.
  • Bus: there are stops all round the edge of the park on Park Road North, Park Road South and Park Road West, each within 100 metres of an entrance.
  • On foot: the park has 18 pedestrian entrances, and its tarmac paths are suitable for wheelchairs, with cobbled sections near some entrances.

If you do drive, our parking in Wirral page has the town centre car parks, and the roadworks and travel page carries Merseyrail engineering works and road closures nearer the date.

Is it on this year?

Yes. Tickets for all four days are on sale on Ticket Tailor, with the dates, times and prices above. Wirral Council has published nothing about the event on its own site as of 7 October, and there is no line-up yet. We will update this page when the organiser adds the stage programme, the trader list or the entrance details.
