We checked 4 Christmas tree sellers near Wirral, from Church Farm's forest at Thurstaston to Gordale at Burton, for prices and dates. Updated November 2026.

There are four places on and near the Wirral selling real Christmas trees in 2026, and this guide puts them in one place with prices where they are published, opening dates and what each one sells. Most people land on Church Farm at Thurstaston, where you choose a tree in the forest and watch it being cut, or on Gordale at Burton, whose cut trees arrive on 21 November. Every entry was checked against the seller’s own website on 5 November 2026.

We have not bought a tree from any of these for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry says what the seller says it does, with its own prices where it publishes them. Dates and stock change as the season goes on, so check before a long drive.

On the Wirral

1. Church Farm, Thurstaston

Church Farm has grown and sold Christmas trees for more than 30 years and says it has over 13,000 growing in its Christmas Tree Forest above the Dee. You pick up a measuring stick at the entrance, walk the beds (each variety has its own signposted zone), choose your tree, and a member of staff cuts it in front of you, trims the base to fit your stand and nets it.

It grows Nordmann fir, Fraser fir, Norway spruce, noble fir and Scots pine, and sells small rooted trees in pots and, with a few days’ notice, larger trees dug up with their roots. Wreaths, stands and hot drinks are in the marquee.

The farm warns that paths get muddy, so wear boots, and suggests measuring your room, width as well as height, before you go. For a normal room it suggests about 7ft.

The farm delivers on most days in December except Tuesdays, to the doorstep only, with a set number of slots a day booked when you buy. Its delivery page carries the 2026 zones and prices.

Church Farm no longer runs its Santa Experience; our Wirral Santa’s grotto guide explains why.

Open Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 5pm, Saturday 21 November to Sunday 13 December; closed Monday and Tuesday
Price 2025 guide prices, 7ft Nordmann fir about £68, 7ft Fraser fir about £60, 7ft Scots pine about £60, rooted tree in a pot about £50, larger rooted trees about £10 a foot; each tree priced individually

2. Gordale Garden and Home Centre, Burton

A family-owned garden centre on the A540 Chester High Road at Burton, at the southern end of the Wirral between Neston and Chester. Its freshly cut trees arrive on Saturday 21 November and are sold from a marquee on the car park, so, as Gordale puts it, “you can leave those wellies at home”.

It sells Nordmann firs from 4ft to 10ft, which it says come from managed forests in Ireland, and the team unwraps and inspects each one before it goes on display. Artificial trees are on sale now.

Its charity Santa’s grotto runs from 28 November to 23 December (details in our grotto guide), and there is a coffee shop on site.

It also makes holly, decorated and luxury wreaths and table centres, and will make them to order. You can buy a tree in its online shop for click and collect, or have it delivered: the farm says there is a small charge for local delivery, rising with distance.

How we chose

These are the places people on the Wirral search for when they want a real tree, chosen because they grow or sell cut trees every year and publish their own details: the Wirral’s own tree farm at Thurstaston, the grower at Backford, and the garden centres that sell cut trees on the peninsula. We have not visited them for this guide. Prices, dates and opening hours come from each seller’s own website on 5 November 2026. We left out sellers we could not confirm for 2026, including Benty Farm at Thurstaston and the Thingwall Nurseries tree sales, which have no 2026 details online.
